Spread the love

Every individual is unique.  There is something within the you of you that is different from every single human being, that will determine how you will project in this world, how you will see the world, how you will become a special human being.  Learn how to share it so that other people may learn from you, because that’s the only reason for having anything.  There’s no book, nor college that will teach you this.  Education systems and processes are trying from time to time to make everyone like everybody else, and the ability to conform governs success.

Don’t copy what other people do or imitate them.  You will never succeed by doing that, instead the more you imitate them you will only get closer to what they do, you will never be good in doing it.  What will happen is that you will slowly forget what you good at.  Don’t allow your parents to implant their own dreams, that they may have failed to accomplish, on you.  Your parents, teacher or lecturer will tell you what they know – what they were taught by the system.  Go into abstract thinking, dream a while.  Then find the tools to help you achieve your dream.

You are the best you.  You will always be the second best anyone else.  We are living in a culture where a person is not measured by who he is or what he is but rather by what he has.  If he has a lot, he must be a great man and everyone wants to follow what he does.  If he has little, he must be insignificant.  Let people believe what they want, just follow your dream.

Human created time, and then became the slave of time.  Do things at your own pace.  Don’t rush, and don’t use irrelevant yardsticks.  Your plan must be realistic, give yourself enough period to learn whatever you need to learn.  Don’t let every word that you come across stick with you, words are a freezing of reality.  They can keep you from growing, for example “intellectual”, you find the meaning of intellectual and it get stuck with you, and suddenly you begin to doubt yourself and your capabilitieis  Never doubt yourself, set aside the ” what ifs”.  Sometimes people believe more into yourself than you do.

RD Laing says,  in his book, “The Politics of Experience”,  “What we think is less than what we know; what we know is less that we love; what we love is so much less than what there is, and to this precise extent, we are much less than what we are.”

Many people are discouraged from reaching their potential by other people who pin labels, like stupid, dumb or emotional, on them.  Discourage people from using labels around you.  Labels rob us of knowing each other better or learning from each other.  They create distance among people, labels like Moslem, Black, Jew, etc.  There’s a lot to learn from your neighbor.

Trust your feelings, don’t let other people tell you what to do or how to do it.  I’m referring to things like “a man don’t cry, or a lady don’t laugh out loud”.  If you feel like crying, cry, and if you feel like laughing, laugh.  If it feels right, it will be right. You may miss out on a great opportunity because you are afraid to show your feeling or emotion.  Some stars are found on stage.

The easiest thing in the world to be is what you are, what you feel.  The hardest thing to be is what other people want you to be.  Finding who you are, not people telling you who you are, is the happiest trip of your life.  Find you, who you are, be as you are.  Then you can live simply.

Avoid living in the past.  If you constantly dwell on the past, the past becomes your future, and that future becomes your present.  The reality is what is happening now.  The past is no longer real.  Living for tomorrow is only a dream, all you going to have is an unrealized dream.  Life is too short for you to live in fear.

We are often afraid of doing something because we can’t do it perfectly.  Innovators are people who make, create or do things.  We don’t want to do this because we are afraid is not going to be good, or is not going to be approved of.  We want to be perfect, yet nobody is perfect.  If you seek perfection you will do nothing.

We all need to be recognized for our achievements. We’ve got to be recognized for doing something well.  And somebody is got to point it to us. We all need that pat on the shoulder, and hear “well done”.  But people never know what was right, they always point on what is wrong.  Don’t be frustrated or seek recognition the wrong way.

Don’t sing in a cave.  There must be people who are interested in what you’re doing.  Come out of the cave, show an interest in what they’re doing.  Learn to know them better, then they will be interested in you, and what you’re doing.  There are ways to meet the needs of the society, and still do your own thing.  It’s knowing where, when and how.

No matter where you are in life right now, you are still the creator of your own destiny.  You can change this destiny by taking a decision to change seriously, by fighting your petty resistance against change and fear, by learning more about your mind, try out a behavior which fills your real needs, carryout concrete acts rather than conceptualizing about them.

Stop talking and start doing, use your senses as if you have never used them before.  Think out ways in which you behave in a self defeating manner, listen to words you usher, respect the process of your own creative encounters and have faith that they will get you somewhere soon.  No change take place without hard work and getting your hands dirty.  You make your own life, no one will do it for you.  Face your shortcomings, mistakes and transgressions.  Leave your bed and live.  If you fail don’t blame it on God, life or anyone.

  1. I agree about living simply. We all seem to be after something more or something we think is better for our lives. We should strive to be the best version of ourselves. There is only one of us and we were born in perfection or the way we were intended to be. Instead of striving to be like others or have what others have, we need to do what makes us happy.

  2. for the past few days I have been depressed and today I got the magic. About 1 week ago we were practicing a song we want to sing on some event and sadly my voice just couldn’t come out well, I felt I was performing the worst and I just kept trying to raise my voice and some discord cam out of that , my voice would quake and I couldn’t understand what was happening.

2 days ago I just decided music wasn’t my thing, I literally have up but I believed and also other people believed I was the best singer amongst us all. I love singing and ever since I was a kid I was always complimented when it came to sing so today it struck me from nowhere, when I was singing in the shower, I can sing well when I don’t raise my voice.and shout like every one else does when I do that my voice breaks and I end up losing it but when I sing it low and quiet and simple and naturally its like Angels music.

This is what I’m saying, ” Never try to be like anyone else, be you and you will be outstanding.” When I wanted to be like every one else I became the last but when I do it my delay people wonder. This is what life should be like, be you, be original and this is discovering your X factor and developing it.

    1. Don’t give up on your dream, keep singing.  Thank you stopping by.  I highly appreciate your time and comments.

      All the best.

  3. Hi! Thank you very much for encouraging us to discover our X factor. That’s the very first step. Knowing it’s important to be developed must help us to actually develop it. Points like not paying attention to labels, and not becoming a slave of time can help us in this goal. Thank you very much!

  5. Hi,

Great article on how to delivery your X-Factor. For me not being a slave to time was a massive thing to master & now that I feel I’ve come closer to doing so (I’ve still not perfected it) I feel far happier in myself!

Following on from that I’ve never personally sought perfection, as I don’t belie in most scenarios perfection is actually achievable! I aim to do a good job and the move on to the next thing, I ‘ve found I get a lot accomplished this way to a high standard.

  7. Living a simple life is a very easy thing to do, but there are some simple factors that hinder that type of life and we are the reason it’s not being a reality. In some instances, we defeat ourselves without any just reason and then such an act continues to occur, that is when low self-esteem sets in and it’s because the mental state of an individual adapt to situations we give to it regularly. when we do things at our own place without being in a tight situation, we tend to be at ease with ourselves and from then, there are greater chances we will live happily.

    1. I can’t agree with you more.  Thank you for stoping by.   I highly appreciate your time and comments.

      All the best.

  8. Oh, this is really good. Many words of encouragement and upliftment here. I totally agree with you here when you say that people need to begin to believe in themselves. They need to start being them and not be others. Trying to be like others means you will never be as good. There is only one version of you in the world so why not be the best version. A nice post worth sharing here.

  9. I think this is a good written article on how to overcome depression.

Depression is a illness which may happen to just anyone .

I like the part where you mentioned about not entertaining to labels.  We live in a judgemental world and it is very easy to be labelled by others no matter whether you are a homebody or a CEO.

Another point I would like to add to your list is the power of letting go.  I cant stop others from judging us but we sure have control over our reactions over it.

    1. Thank you for stopping by.  I highly appreciate your time and comments.

      All the best.

  10. This is so well put, I couldn’t agree more. With the presence of social media these days people are trying to emulate their Instagram stars. Half the posts are fake, airbrushed, photoshopped and its making people ill trying to seek the impossible.

People really do need to focus on their best attributes and enhance them instead of trying to be like everybody else.

I’m sure your website will help a lot of people. well done to you.

    Best regards,

  11. Hi, Sandikazi.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on developing our X factor. The first sentence itself stole my heart and made to stop for a while and analyze how unique each individual is. Yes, that’s so true. Developing what we really have, can be a true motivator and help us in developing to the next level. So let us not give up our dreams.
    Warm Regards,
    Gaurav Gaur

  12. Wow. Your article is a life saver for a lot of people. This is real hardwork from your part. I’m very well interested in this topic. Depression in my opinion is responsible for 60% or more of sicknesses we see today. A lot of persons are in the hospital not because they are really sick but are depressed. In this age of achievement and everyone on the run to become a Billionaire overnight, it becomes a goal for everyone and when this is not met depression sinks in and even kills the individual.

You talked about labels. You know in our day, it is difficult to live your life without thinking about someone else. Words are powerful. I sometime find it difficult to act like I don’t hear the negative criticism. I do and it demeaning. Thank you for sharing this and it is a source of encouragement for me.

Thank you for making me understand that I am a creator of my own destiny. I chose to be happy today. I will bookmark this page because it is a source of encouragement for me and everyone who cares to read it.
